Augmentation Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure by means of which the shape of the nose is increased. Severe cases are commonly referred to as saddle nose.
Common causes of saddle nose deformity:
Severe nasal traumas resulting in septal hematoma
Traumas in professional boxers
Genetics
A failed previous surgery
Other causes: drug abuse, diseases, etc.
Depending on the severity of the case, augmentation can performed with:
Use of the septal cartilage from the own patient
Use of ear cartilage graft from the own patient
Rib Cartilage (severe cases)
Fillers (for example: metal metacril) for minor imperfections. This procedure is also known as non-surgical rhinoplasty.
