Reduction
Most cosmetic nose surgeries require some reduction of the dorsum and/or the nasal tip.
It is also useful to pay attention to the nasolabial angle and to the degree of projection of the tip.
In every case a thorough functional analysis of the nose is carried out, so that the patient breathes well through the nose after surgery.
Reduction is planned selectively: how much to lower the dorsum, refine the tip or narrow the base depends on the anatomy and on facial proportions.
Over-reduction can weaken nasal support or affect breathing. That is why the approach balances aesthetic change with preserving structures that hold shape and function.
After surgery, patients often notice the profile change first; finer detail of the tip and dorsum becomes clearer as swelling decreases.
