Patients from other provinces and abroad
Travelling from other provinces of Argentina
How to plan your rhinoplasty in Buenos Aires if you live in another province.
How do I plan my rhinoplasty in Buenos Aires?
The first step is the consultation. The options are:
- In person: travelling to Buenos Aires just for the consultation.
- Virtual: by video call.
- Requesting a quote through the consultation form.
- Via Instagram: @dr.hernan.chinski.rinoplastia or @dr.luis.chinski.rinoplastia.
It is important that you can clearly explain what you want, both aesthetically and functionally. We will ask you for photos from the front, profile, three-quarter view and from below. They can be taken with a digital camera or a phone: they don't need to be professional for the initial assessment. Drs. Chinski personally review the photographs and the case, and recommend the most suitable type of procedure and the improvement you can expect.
How many days do I need to stay in Buenos Aires?
Two days are enough to get started: the in-person consultation on the first day and surgery the next. As it is outpatient surgery, you go back to your hotel the same day. We meet again at the practice between days 9 and 12 to remove the splint and stitches. In between, you can return to your city from the day after surgery by plane, boat, car or bus, or stay in Buenos Aires—whatever is most comfortable for you.
Can I fly after surgery?
Yes. Cabin pressure does not affect recovery. Some airlines ask for a medical certificate to fly after surgery—we can provide it for you.
Who will assess my case?
Dr. Hernán Chinski and Dr. Luis Chinski are the only ones who assess the case and perform the procedure. Each surgeon has his own patients, so from the start you can choose either of them.
In every case an in-person consultation is scheduled at the practice one or two days before surgery, for the complete functional and aesthetic assessment. At that consultation the expected result is simulated with software.
How is the quote put together?
The final quote is set after assessing the photographs you send us. It includes all fees and hospital costs. If you have a functional problem and a prepaid plan we work with, the hospital costs of the functional part can be deducted.
It doesn't include travel or accommodation costs. Payment is made in full before the procedure, and can even be made on the day of surgery, in cash or with the payment methods available through PayPal. If you have paid for the procedure and it does not go ahead, we refund the full amount, whatever the reason for the cancellation.
Do I need pre-surgical tests?
Yes. All patients having surgery need to have some tests beforehand:
- Blood tests: complete blood count, glucose, urea, coagulation panel and HIV serology (optional).
- Electrocardiogram with surgical risk assessment by a cardiologist.
You can have them done in your city or in Buenos Aires, in the days before or even on the day of surgery. We recommend having them done some time before you travel, so the results can be checked in advance. If you need to have them done in Buenos Aires, they can be done the day before the procedure.
Do I need nasal function tests?
Normally not. The functional assessment is done with fibre optics at the in-person consultation the day before surgery.
If there is already a functional problem with the nose, especially chronic sinusitis or nasal polyps, it may be worth having a non-contrast CT scan of the craniofacial bones (also called a paranasal sinus CT) before travelling and emailing us the images for assessment. Typical obstructive problems are diagnosed without a CT scan and solved in the same surgery.
What are the pre- and post-operative instructions?
On the day of the pre-surgical assessment at the practice, we give you the instructions for before the procedure and for the recovery.
Which hotel can I stay at?
We recommend looking for accommodation in Palermo, Palermo Soho, Palermo Hollywood or Recoleta, because they are close to the clinic where the surgery is performed and to the practice, and they are central areas for sightseeing.
Will I be able to go sightseeing after surgery?
Patients usually arrive one or two days before the procedure. After the initial consultation you can explore the city freely. After surgery we recommend staying at the hotel for 2 days without going out. After those two days, you can go sightseeing a little on foot and a little by taxi or tourist bus. Always with sunscreen. If you return to your city, follow the same rest instructions there.
Who do I contact if I have a concern or complication?
All patients have the mobile numbers of Drs. Chinski and their assistants, who are available to look after them. In addition, there are 24-hour care centres with specialised ENT doctors who work as a team with Drs. Chinski in any unexpected situation.
How many check-ups do I need after surgery?
There is only one mandatory scheduled check-up, between days 9 and 12 after surgery. If you come back to Buenos Aires on another occasion, you're welcome to visit the practice so we can take photographs and see how satisfied you are with the result. WhatsApp also remains open for any questions.
