Ultrasonic rhinoplasty

State-of-the-art technology for reshaping the nasal bone.

Ultrasonic piezotome used in rhinoplasty

What is it?

In traditional rhinoplasty, the nasal bone is worked with a chisel and hammer. In ultrasonic rhinoplasty we use a piezotome, an instrument that cuts bone with micro-vibrations. It acts only on mineralised tissue and spares the surrounding soft tissues: skin, mucosa and blood vessels.

Advantages

  • Ultra-fine cuts: more control over every millimetre of nasal bone.
  • Less trauma to the tissues: it spares skin, mucosa and vessels.
  • Real-world experience: we use it every day since 2017. What matters is the hand that wields it.

Beyond bone: tip support

Ultrasound is applied to bone. But one of the most challenging parts of rhinoplasty is giving the tip firm, lasting support. For that we use septocaudal replacement, an innovative technique developed by our team.

At the forefront of nose surgery

Rhinoplasty has changed a great deal in recent years. Ultrasonic technique is joined by preservation approaches that reshape the nose while keeping its natural structures rather than resecting them. Digital simulation lets us show patients at the first consultation how their nose could look. Every year we visit colleagues abroad and lecture at international congresses to bring these advances into our daily practice.

Who is it for?

Patients having primary or secondary rhinoplasty when the nasal bone needs to be reshaped.

Questions

It is not an add-on: it is part of how we operate.

Recovery is usually not painful. Most patients do not take painkillers.

Yes, we also use it in secondary rhinoplasty when bone needs to be worked.
